Arrival and Check-In

Competitors, pre-registered coaches, and officials entered the Paramount Fine Foods Centre venue at Gate 2 on the south side of the Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

The check-in process involved verifying Photo Identification and the issuing of Race Cards and accreditation (wristbands) for access to competitor areas.

Competitors in a Team Event/Relay Race must check in as a complete crew.

The Competitor Check-in desk located near Gate 2 was open the following hours and days:

7:00 to 17:00 EST

15:00 to 17:00 EST

Lightweight Weigh-In

Lightweight competitors  weighed in no less than one hour and no more than two hours before the scheduled start time of the race in the event in which they are entered. Weigh-in station opens at 7:30 AM on Saturday and 7:30 AM on Sunday. See #9 on venue map.

If a competitor did not make weight or missed their weigh-in window they were not permitted to race. See World Rowing Rules of Racing Rule #22.

Coaches

Coaches who are coaching five (5) competitors or more were given the opportunity to apply for venue accreditation to watch their athletes by completing this form by February 19 12:00 noon EST.  Registered Coaches will be permitted to access the Concourse but will not be permitted inside the Competition Zone, Warmup area, or locker rooms on the arena floor. Others will be directed to the Box Office to purchase a Ticket at Gate 1.

Warmup Areas

Competitors were allowed to enter the Warm up Area near the field of play no more than 30 minutes before their race upon presentation of their Race Card.

Additional warm-up ergs are available at the Concept2 Warm up Area (See # 4 on the Venue Map) on the Concourse Level.

Competition Zone (Field of Play)

The competition zone for racing was set up with 78 new Concept2 RowErgs that have been shipped directly from the factory in Vermont.  There was two banks, A section and B section of 39 RowErgs in each. Every erg was weighted down on the front with 27.2kg/60lbs for all races. Only competitors who are racing, members of the Jury and Time-Team officials were allowed in the Field of Play.

Marshalling

Competitors should be at the marshalling point (#12 on Venue Map) at the entrance to the race floor 5-10 minutes before their race in numerical order following the numbers on the floor.

Massage Therapy Services

Competitors signed up on-site for free race massage during the Championships. This was offered on the Concourse Level by Bryan College student massage therapists starting at 10:00 AM on Saturday.

Food and Drink

Concessions stands were open for competitors and spectators and have a variety of options for purchase. Outside meals may not be brought in. Pre-race nutrition will be allowed. Water bottle refilling stations are available on the Concourse Level. Starting at 11:00 AM Sat & Sun the kiosk on the north side  of the Concourse will be serving beer for purchase.   For post-race dinners in the area – check out this website for options.

Results & Victory Ceremonies

Results will be posted on the World Rowing website and in the venue as soon as they are verified (approximately 30 minutes after each race). Results and Race Management will be provided by Time-Team. Victory Ceremonies will be held on the Concourse Level (see #5 on Venue Map) at scheduled times during the day. Any queries on results should be directed to the President of the Jury, or the World Rowing Office during the event.
